So many things and so little time for playing. (I know, corny)

This has been fun. I want to thank Elaine and her amazing staff for putting this 'thing' together. I also appreciate your encouragement and support throughout this process. (not to mention the members on staff - what a super team! We all play so well together.
New horizons with endless possibilities for certain. I know I will be using LibraryThing and fully intend to discover more about Pod casts.

It is most fortunate that I am out of time because I think I will return to discover more about this thing called pod casts. The only feature that would be of interest to me would be downloading itunes. (can you believe I actually used that phrase?)

Bless me folks for I have a confession to make. Hold on to your keyboards and hard drives Elaine and Anthony - I discovered the joy of YouTube long ago.
Why Beatrice the Mouse was on YouTube for a short time - until she was busted for showing her pics around town to the tunes of Tom Jones. Well, that is the only skeleton in her closet.
Just loved 'GAWKK-ing' and will continue to enjoy YouTube whenever I have time to play.
I particularly enjoyed Calgary Public Library's Story time and Monty Python's Story Time.

Thing #19 ~ Wiki, Wiki, Wiki.

Wiki is an amazing tool for sharing knowledge, coordinating information and an effective means of collaboration between libraries, staff or various community organizations.
Believe it or not I have already used Wiki. Not only for a quick reference (say when looking for the name of a new performer) but as a result of having attended an OLA workshop a year ago I was required to add a short summary of the program. Anyone who knows me at all can tell you the mention of technology and I have that 'deer- caught- in- the- headlights- look.'
Wiki is very easy to use.
I can see there being drawbacks with this product because so many can contribute or edit the content which can perhaps result in some inaccuracy.
Forgot to add - LOVE BOOK LOVERS WIKI! I am hooked - or should I say booked?

We've come a long way baby from the card catalogue, and in spite of the many online resources simplicity is what it's all about ~ if you know how to follow directions (or stop and ask) along the Internet highway. Thank you Elaine and crew for mapping out our course and your encouragement along the way.
I loved Dr. Wendy Schultz reference about libraries...'not merely in communities they are communities.'
So, I shall continue to play............

You must know by now I am having fun playing. It was so easy to set up my twitter account, however I don't think I will use it much.
Believe it or not Beatrice the mouse has a twitter account - we need to either find her password or set up another one. But that is easy peasy.

Well I can't believe how many people I know and don't know are on twitter. It is very interesting and you could spend a great deal of time looking. I have not. However, I now understand the terms tweets and peeps. OMG! (I understand that too!)

Well, just a few months ago I mastered the art of downloading songs on to my second hand IPod and now technology has given us the IPad. A huge multi-touch screen where you can flick a finger to find anything AND there are about 140,000 APPS if you please.
I just learned what APPS are this week and was very excited when I knew what a TV commercial was referring to. (insert sigh here!)

Yadda, Yadda, Yadda or should I say Blogga, blogga, blogga??? I am actually going to recap what I have discoverd on my journey thus far. I could not believe how easy it was to set up my blog.

Learning should be a lifelong endeavour. As I move forward I hope to have more confidence in myself which brings me to

Week 3 Things 6, 7 and 8.

I really enjoyed Flickr and discovered the creative possibilites are endless. Using Flickr's Blogging tool I took great delight in searching for what I think is an interesting image. (seen here) Topo Gigio, the little Italian Mouse facinated me as a child. Our family never missed the Ed Sullivan Television Show. Imagine my delight when I discoverd a picture of Topo reading a book.

Just too perfect! When I have play time at home I have a feeling housework will suffer.

I also discovered that creating a Yahoo account was very simple. Thank goodness for good old fashioned paper and pen otherwise, I will never remember any of my passwords for all these accounts I'm setting up.

Flickr and Wikis and Mashups ~ oh my! (Thing 7)

If the title reminds you of 'lions and tigers and bears ~ oh my" from the Wizard of Oz you are correct! My feet have left earth and landed in a technicolour place somewhere over the rainbow.

Talk about your 'doorway to discovery!' Wow!

Instructions are very clear and let's face it, I have always been a huge fan of playing. Thank goodness that is a crucial factor in terms of 7 and 1/2 life long learning habits. I have so many offers of assistance along the way which I appreciate as I am not very confident in techno-land.

With some guidance from Little T I have created a trading card for Beatrice and one of her very handsome friends.

Well, week 1 of my journey of discovery has been interesting.
My first challenge was opening the package which contain the earbuds. Needless to say scissors were required and the plastic package is long gone. The earbuds are tucked away in a drawer.
My second challenge (and I am not ashamed to admit this folks) was to locate where the earbuds must be connected. No problems.......just challenges.
And so the blogging begins.
